As I’m acquainted to practically all massage techniques, you might be interested to know main differences of classical massage from the other massage types, about its advantages and disadvantages. I will compare classical massage with Thai massage as, first of all, you are already kind of acquainted with Thai massage, and secondly, this comparison is the most vivid one.

What is classical massage better than Thai massage at

1. Classical massage can be performed by almost all people. Yes, may be, the level will be different from the one you face in a massage office, but it’s still pleasant! :) It’s enough to remember how, for example, we asked our friends to stretch our neck, shoulders, back, that is make light classical massage. But one can’t do the same with Thai massage – in this case a person shall posses certain skills!

2. It’s very hard to affect one’s health by performing classical massage (well, at least a person shall try hard to do so). And in the course of Thai massage there are a lot of special movements, improper performance of which can easily lead to muscles’ twist and other consequences. This is the reason why I designed a comfortable scheme of Thai massage when training my masseuses and taught them to perform this massage as carefully as possible.

3. When one performs classical massage, he can think of anything, including weather, politics, etc. And when performing Thai massage “total presence’ is required, that is all thoughts shall be “now and here” – at the massage.

4. Classical massage shall be performed even if one has never tried it hmsef. And Thai massage is impossible to perform professionally if you have never tried it.

5. Classical massage is very healthy for back, lumbus, and breech – it has nothing to do with Thai massage. That’s why in some exotic massages I use mixed technique, necessarily including classical massage of the back.

2. To perform classical massage it’s necessary to have oil (and may be talc) and after classical massage one will have to take shower. And Thai massage can performed even if a massaged person is dressed, the most important thing is that this clothes shall be comfortable.

Naturally, all these thoughts are reflection of my subjective point of view. And the most important thing: it’s impossible to say for sure what massage is better – classical or, for example, Thai. Both massages are nice and have their own supporters. In my practice I’ve seen people who preferred classical massage. But it also happened so sometimes that a person said that he would never order classical massage after a session of Thai massage! What can I say – everyone has his own preferences!
